Edible Lip Balm
Updated: 2 days ago
Teaching you how to make your own lip balms for the little ones with only 3 ingredients. A little bit goes a long way so these make PERFECT party favors! I mean, who doesn't need a lip balm?
No matter the season, cold harsh winters or dry hot summers, you always seem to need some lip balm, am I right? Not to mention I'm always misplacing mine so to have 3 or 4 on hand may seem like overkill to some people, but I guess I'm just not "some" people. :)
But this time, I'm adding a little twist to the deal and making Edible Lip Balm for the younger kiddos. And yes, it actually is delicious but we don't want them eating too much or they will get a tummy ache. Lol.
Party Favors Anyone?
And if you are starting to love this idea for maybe your kid's birthday party favor, I've created a some FREE PRINTABLE LABELS for you!
A word of caution
The only note I need to make on these before we dive in is to make sure you keep your lip balm in a cool dry place! I know this is true for any and all lip products, but this one's made with coconut oil, which can melt pretty quickly.
Alright, let's get busy makin' mama!
Offering this recipe two ways for you guys:

Read on below for a step by step guide
What you will need:
Lip balm container
I purchase mine here - I love the look of tin, but they also sell tubes and plastic containers. Get what makes you happy! For my video tutorial, I used a paint palette I got from the dollar store as a little added fun.
1/4 tsp Coconut Oil
1/4 tsp Honey
1/4 tsp Kool-aid or one Kool-aid packet
How to make you lip balm:
1. Mix 1/4 tsp of coconut oil (you do not need to melt it) with 1/4 tsp of honey
2. Separate this mix into different bowls depending on how many colors you want to make
I only made pink and blue so I split mine into two bowls
3. Warm up about 1/4 C of water in the microwave for approx. 1-2 mins.
4. Mix warm water with Kool-aid packet until you get a slightly thick consistency that matches your coconut and honey mix
If you accidentally add to much water to your kool-aid...no worries. It's just for adding color and flavor. If it's runnier you just have to mix into the coconut oil a bit longer but it really doesn't matter! (which is why I love making these)
This actually happens to me on our video tutorial so you can see the difference in textures for you Kool-aid mix. Still comes out JUST fine either way mama!
5. Add Kool-aid flavor to your coconut and honey mixture. Mix in until completely combined
6. Place into your lip balm containers and add your labels!
