"It's okay to not fit in. The great ones never do"
Maybe by now you've noticed that the so-called "different" people you've run across in life are the ones who are crushing it in adulthood. And hopefully YOU are that different person!
As a girl who was painfully shy growing up, I hated being different. I mean honestly, when you're little, it sucks being on the outside (not fitting in) and worrying about what other little minds think of you when you're in middle school. Until that is, you grow up and realize that
A: if the group you want to be included in won't include you - than that's NOT your group, or
B: you shouldn't give a shit about fitting in and go your own way anyway!
Because the truth is, we are ALL different and we all "fit-in" where we are truly meant to be!
I'm okay with just fitting in with my family (born or chosen family). Some people don't even have that, which makes my heart ache, but also reminds me to be grateful.
Learn about yourself
When you spend time alone, you get to really know yourself. And when you know who you are and what you want, it can be a super power! Because then you have the energy to figure out how to get the things you really want. Hence, "the great ones". They know what they want and they know it will be hard to get, but they do in anyway. They are not afraid of what other's think because they have learned to avoid their opinions a long time ago.
Duh, right? You don't need to go through an experience to learn empathy, but it definitely makes you understand something much better and a whole lot faster. People who have spent their life on the "outside" learn a lot about human behavior (the good and the bad) which also has the potential to make you unstoppable.
Sometimes we crave something different from ourselves, a new perspective. Who better to provide that perspective than someone who never "fit in"? They have a unique mindset and a genuine outlook on life.
So what do I want to want to share with this quote of the month?
That it's okay to be different! It's good to be different. You may feel you don't "fit in" but maybe you are looking in the wrong place. You are beautiful and loved and your life has meaning no matter where you are!
So go ahead and lose the fear of being you - the real you. You are different and you are amazing.
